The name alone makes it more identifiable than certificates coming from lesser-known tech companies.

Still, the bottom line is that the Google IT Support Professional Certificate, just like other certifications such as CompTIA A+ Certification, is just that — a certification.

While it may boost the resume of someone who is applying for an entry-level post in the IT arena, especially if earned in the past couple of years as it demonstrates the desire to keep abreast in one’s chosen field, the fact remains that many employers are very much likely to prefer resumes bearing something like “BS in Computer Science” or “BS in IT.”
